Machine Man (serial)

I got two steps into the hallway before Angelica gasped. “Is that—”

“The guy with the legs,” said Lola. “Yeah.”

I turned and squinted at Angelica. Now I remembered her. She had been my doctor, back in the hospital. She had called me unstable. That seemed pretty rich, now I knew she kept a house full of tiny, dressed dogs.

“He shouldn’t—”

“I know. But close the door, okay?”

Angelica came inside and shut out the night. The dog in her arms stared at me. I didn’t know what it was thinking. But it was something.

“We’re in trouble,” Lola said. “We need help.”

I closed my eyes and let Lola talk. I was glad she was taking the lead, because I was done. I closed my eyes and let their conversation swirl around me. I saw the Manager, flying backwards out the window. His eyes stayed on me until he dropped out of sight.

“Charlie.”

I opened my eyes. Cassandra Cautery was there, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Lola. “I’m sorry,” I croaked. “I didn’t mean to kill him.”

“He goes in and out,” said Lola.

Cassandra Cautery nodded. “You did the right thing. I’ll take care of him.” She came closer. “Let me take a look at that arm.”

“Don’t take my arms.” Then I realized it wasn’t Cassandra Cautery. It was Angelica. She had deep brown eyes, like the dog she was carrying. In fact, they had very similar expressions. I knew what that dog was thinking now. It was: This guy is trouble.

“Just relax, Charlie,” said Lola, and it seemed like a good idea. I passed out.

I hope to see Carl bust in there (once Charlie is patched up and rested) and get a dozen yappy attack dogs sicced on him!

Any chance there's a company tracking device secreted within the Contours?

I see the manager fighting carl and the main character in the finnal act and cautry taking over the company and making it all ok. main character dies in a heroic act and Carl gets the girl....at least that's what I'd expect if this was a movie just like every other movie I've seen....but not from Max(x)

Highfive and keep up the good work.
You are the favorite start to my cube dwelling work day.

I bet when she takes the arms she gives them to the dogs, like man-steaks.

I think Angelica should now be a love rival for Lola before unfortunately Angelica is killed in a some freak accident, while trying to save one her dogs.

Also lola's heart is made of bio-metalic cells which are reacted by the reactors in charlie's hands. this means they can never be together true so must part for ever, as every time they are close she starts to have a heart attack or something like that :)

Charlie will open an ice cream factor and Lola will go on to be a famous singer, singing folk town music about robotic cowboys.

well maybe not true for the last part there! :P

Come on MAx I need more of this cyborg stimulation. its like a a drug! yours words are my 'coke'!

@fredzfrog,@max
In a row boat (someone else was rowing) on a lake in Finland. I was staying in a Finnish summer house (no running water, no electricity, no plumbing) and the only 3g/EDGE reception was about 3qtrs of the way down the lake, way out in the middle.
